Chimney Effect in Protruding Cladding Features
This course looks at chimney effect in hollow feature protrusions on facades with the three types window assembly. First – punched openings with rainscreen spandrel zone. Second – stacked windows with system-specific spandrel. Third – stick curtain walling opening with glazed-in spandrel panel.
The course addresses fire spread and protection against it in cases, where feature protrusions are too large for the off-the-shelf cavity closer systems.
Unique appearance of the façade was achieved with all standard systems. Detail drawings, videos and explanatory clips explain buildability, performance, compliance and assembly-specific aspects and design principles.
The building has a high-performance envelope with safe feature protrusions and a minimalistic, yet elegant outlook.
